For Honor is joining the now-lengthy list of PlayStation 4 titles making the jump to PS5. Publisher Ubisoft has announced that the popular medieval combat game is heading to next-gen systems in time for launch with a free update.
Those with a shiny new PS5 will be able to carry over their For Honor profiles from PS4, "including all purchases and inventory", meaning you can pick up where you left off. The complimentary upgrade also comes with a bunch of visual enhancements, as you might expect. The PS5 version of the game will display at 4K resolution, and includes improvements to water reflections, draw distance, shadows, and texture filtering. The game will also run at 60 frames per second with the arrival of Y4S4 in December.
It makes sense for Ubisoft and other publishers to carry over these long-term service games. There are plenty of them already on the list of free PS5 upgrades. Are you still doing battle in For Honor? Will you be continuing your quest on PS5? Charge into the comments section below.

This great and all, but I still wish the game had a rejoin match option.
Oh wow look, more free upgrades. But I thought Sony were the only company who could afford to take a hit in selling an enhanced version 😛
@nessisonett It's not a remaster, though, is it? It's also a service game that relies on recurring revenue.
does anyone know if we will be able to play ps5 to ps4 or vice-versa? will i have to use my ps4 if they only have ps4?
@get2sammyb It’s only not a remaster because of backwards compatibility. Plenty of games were released on PS4 that were simple texture, resolution and frame rate boosts for at least £40.
I swear to god this was already announced last year
Yep here it is https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ubisoft-will-put-cross-play-into-all-the-pvp-games/1100-6471032/
@nessisonett it's not a remaster because they didn't change some character faces.
Dude hell yes! My brother loves this game (1000+ hours between PC and PS4). He was hoping this would happen he's gonna be pumped.
Bit off topic but does anyone know if you can party up/chat between ps4 and ps5? Team games or multiplayer games are gonna be a touch lonely for a bit if you cant.
That game was free on PS Plus, so I guess everyone who grabbed gets a PS5 version for free.
I never even heard of this game until one of these characters was announced to be in Samurai Shodown. Doesn’t seem like a game I can get into unfortunately.
People still play this?
This isn't a PS5 release, just backwards compatibility. It's the same as currently available on PS4 Pro, until they upgrade to 60 FPS with Y4S4 in December. Right?

@Sub-Xero exactly or even the origins or oddesy. Onwhich i couldn't finish them or really start them due to how stiff and clunky they feel at 30 fps. All these big triple a games should get a port over. But no for honor gets the special treatment. I don't think anyone really cares. Give us the new games we bought this gen like breakpoint the division 2 and something like nioh 2 with free patches also. It would make sence and give consumers something back.
Excellent. For Honor is a great game I still like to dip into. It's great that I'll still be able to play it. Even better that's it's a free upgrade. I honestly excepted these to cost money earlier in the year.
Never played this when it was given on plus. Might give it a go now.
@ScottyG who is that cat?! You should get him on round boys...
@Bobskie77 micro transactions.
@bke1911 yeah i thought as much. Couldn't get into for honor due to nioh 1 and 2 and also sekiro. Also now having ghosts of tsushima I'd give that goty even at 30 fps. It's stunning defo recommend it. ✌️
